Fall is here and so are cooler temperatures. Take advantage of outdoor activities. This time of year is for Barbecues, but for people only. Do not feed you pets human food, especially fatty meats from the pit. High fat content can cause vomiting, diarrhea and a life threatening condition call Pancreatitis. The number one clinical problem that we see in small animals is vomiting/diarrhea. 90% of that can be prevented if we do not feed our pets human food. Their body systems are not made to do quick diet changes. Eating foods from ice cream to french fries to rice and gravy causes nothing more than a trip to the veterinary clinic. Keeping them on a good, healthy dog food will increase years to their lives. Science Diet, Iams or Purina is the top 3 foods that we recommend. Do not feed canned food, dry only. Canned foods tend to pack in between the teeth and cause more dental disease. So, this Fall while your outside enjoying this beautiful weather, eat what your supposed to eat and feed the pets what they are supposed to eat.
